Michigan commits rise, fall in updated On3 2025 recruiting rankings

On3 released its updated On300 rankings for the 2025 recruiting class on Monday afternoon, which saw some interesting changes for Michigan commits.

Center Valley (Pa.) Southern Lehigh tight end Andrew Olesh is Michigan’s highest rated commit and received a nice bump, moving up 21 spots from No. 67 to No. 46 nationally.

Olesh made his official visit to Michigan for Victor’s Weekend in late June and committed to the Wolverines just a few weeks later. He picked U-M over fellow finalists Alabama, Florida and Penn State. Olesh is set to be back in Ann Arbor this weekend for the game against USC.

Olesh is the only Michigan commit ranked in On3’s Top 100. Michigan’s second highest rated commit is Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga safety Kainoa Winston, who dropped eight spots from No. 103 to No. 111.

Winston committed to Michigan in mid-June, just a couple of weeks after his official visit. The highly touted DMV prospect was considered a Penn State lean for the majority of the cycle. However, new Michigan secondary coach LaMar Morgan did a fantastic job of winning him over.

A handful of other Michigan commits also moved down. Both of Michigan’s EDGE commits received significant drops as Alpharetta (Ga.) High’s Julius Holly fell 22 spots from No. 228 to No. 250, while Palatine (Ill.) High’s Jaylen Williams fell 20 spots from No. 252 to No. 272.

Michigan running back commit Donovan Johnson was ranked No. 298 in the previous update but is no longer inside the On300. However, the Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy product did remain a four-star.

Michigan safety commit Ivan Taylor received a minor drop, falling three spots from No. 133 to No. 136. The Winter Garden (Fla.) West Orange prospect flipped his commitment from Notre Dame to Michigan in July.

The only Michigan commit that moved up in the rankings besides Olesh was New Orleans (La.) Archbishop Shaw running back Jasper Parker, who jumped up 16 spots from No. 186 to No. 170. Parker, who committed to U-M in June, has been a steady riser in the rankings across all networks.

Katy (Texas) Jordan wide receiver Andrew Marsh (No. 168), Fort Myers (Fla.) Bishop Verot quarterback Carter Smith (No. 195), Kilgore (Texas) High cornerback Jayden Sanders (No. 203) and New Orleans (La.) Archbishop Shaw wide receiver Jacob Washington (No. 246) all stayed the same in this rankings update.

Michigan entered the day with the No. 14 ranked recruiting class nationally, per the On3 Industry team recruiting rankings.
