Last Friday Night: Highlights and stats from Ole Miss football recruiting commitments and targets

The 2024 high school football season is well into Weeks 3 and 4 nationwide and a number of Ole Miss recruiting commitments and targets showed out in their season-opening games.

The Ole Miss Spirit, over the course of the year, will provide a weekly deep-dive, insider’s perspective on top performances, scouting reports, highlights and stats on prospects of Ole Miss interest in our new series, Last Friday Night.

THE COMMITS

4-star WR Dillon Alfred

Alfred and Alabama’s No. 1 6A team rolled Spanish Fort (Ala.) Friday, 42-17. The Ole Miss commit dazzled in the contest, hauling in 11 receptions for 195 yards and three touchdowns. He continues to flex with his superb route-running and great hands at the catch point.

Next week: at McGill-Toolen (Ala.), 7pm CT

4-star RB Shekai Mills-Knight

It was another day at the office for the blue chip running back commit. Baylor School (Tenn.) dominated Lipscomb Academy (Tenn.), 37-7, and Mills-Knight got into the end zone again. With the defense largely focused on him, his teammate and 2027 target Daniel Gabriel-Georges took advantage, running for 128 yards and a score.

Next week: vs Christian Brothers (Tenn.), 7:30pm CT

THE TARGETS

4-star S Ladarian Clardy

The dynamic athlete may not have the box score to point to, but the Ole Miss target was electric Friday night. He had two touchdowns called back for penalties, but he was all over the field again. LSU has now jumped into the race, extending an offer Sunday. Ole Miss will try to hold off the Tigers as Clardy is set to announce Saturday.

Next week: at Mosley (Fla.), 7pm CT

4-star WR Winston Watkins Jr.

Venice (Fla.) and Watkins remain undefeated after a narrow escape from Port Charlotte (Fla.), 49-41. Watkins was all over the field, once again. On offense, he scored from 11-yards out on a wide receiver screen. The Rebels remain in a great spot here with several others in pursuit. The Indians are the No. 2 team in the Sunshine State, per On3’s rankings.

Next week: vs Cocoa (Fla.), 7:30pm CT
