KSR Today: Ohio Week, Monday with Mark, and More

KSR Today: Ohio Week, Monday with Mark, and More

Good morning, everyone. I’m writing from Woodson Bend Resort in Southeastern Kentucky, the site of today’s KSR Golf Scramble. KSR’s morning radio show will be live from Woodson Bend at 10 a.m. to break down all that happened over the weekend, especially Kentucky’s loss to No. 1 Georgia.

In Lexington, the Wildcats are getting ready for Ohio, the next opponent on the football schedule. The Bobcats come to town next Saturday for a 12:45 p.m. kickoff. Week 4 gets going today with the Monday routine.

Monday with Mark Stoops

Mark Stoops will answer questions about the loss to Georgia in his Monday afternoon press conference in Lexington. Stoops already explained some of his decisions from that game. Today, he will share what he saw on film and more from the tough home loss to the Dawgs. KSR will bring you that conversation.

Stoops will also answer questions from fans on his call-in radio show. Tune in on the UK Sports Network from 6-7 p.m.

The Week 4 depth chart may reveal new injury updates

Before Stoops’ press conference, he will release Kentucky’s updated depth chart for Week 4, potentially revealing the playing status of Chip Trayanum. Jason Patterson and Jager Burton are other players who missed the Georgia game with injuries. We’ll have the new depth chart and any injury news here on KSR.

Kentucky laying 18 points against Ohio

The point spread for Kentucky’s game against Ohio is on the move. The line opened at 15 on Sunday but jumped to 18 after early money on the Wildcats, the home favorite. The over/under on the game is 42.5.

Ohio traditionally plays Kentucky well. The Bobcats upset Kentucky in Lexington in 2004. Kentucky won the last meeting in 2014, 20-3. UK is 4-2 in six meetings.

Kentucky did not receive any votes in the AP poll

No surprise here: The new AP Top 25 college football poll does not include Kentucky. The Wildcats were not among the 18 teams receiving votes outside the top 25, either. Still, Kentucky may have indirectly impacted the poll because Georgia dropped a spot, losing its No. 1 ranking to Texas. The new top 10:

  1. Texas
  2. Georgia
  3. Ohio State
  4. Alabama
  5. Ole Miss
  6. Tennessee
  7. Missouri
  8. Miami
  9. Oregon Penn State
  10. Penn State

The votes are in, and soon, the committee will reveal a new top 25 teams for high school football in Kentucky. There were a pair of upsets that will shake up this week’s rankings. We’ll see the new order later this morning.

Listen to a new KSR Football Podcast

The KSR Football Podcast returns with a new episode on Monday afternoon. At 2 p.m., Nick Roush, Adam Luckett, and Max Duffy will broadcast live on YouTube from KSBar and Grille, with conversations about the Kentucky-Georgia game. They’ll share their thoughts of the decision to punt and other takeaways from the Wildcats’ loss. The show will look ahead to next week, too.

You can watch the KSR Football Podcast live on YouTube this season or listen to the audio-only version on Apple PodcastsSpotify, or whatever means you use to listen to podcasts.

Atlanta at Philadelphia on Monday Night Football

NFL Sunday was cruel to fans of teams like the Cincinnati Bengals and Tennessee Titans. Will Levis made more costly mistakes in Nashville as the Titans dropped to 0-2, losing to the New York Jets. In Kansas City, Joe Burrow had Patrick Mahomes against the ropes, only for the Chiefs to come back in thrilling fashion with Arrowhead magic (and a flag). The Bengals also dropped to 0-2.

Tonight, the Philadelphia Eagles host the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football, the last Week 2 game. Philly is laying 5.5 points.
