Kevin Harvick gets close-up on Carolina Panthers jumbotron during NASCAR Cup Series playoff race day

Kevin Harvick gets close-up on Carolina Panthers jumbotron during NASCAR Cup Series playoff race day

While the NASCAR Playoffs were going on at Watkins Glen, Kevin Harvick decided to enjoy retirement by going to the Panthers game. It’s a shame things played out how they did.

Kevin Harvick is making the most of retirement. He wasn’t in his home watching Watkins Glen today. He got out and went to catch the Chargers and Panthers playing in Charlotte. The thing is, it wasn’t much of a game.

It at least looks like Harvick was comfortable in his nice seats when they put him on the jumbotron.

Alan Cavanna caught Harvick up on the big screen. He was there with his family taking in the action. Maybe they will have better luck next time.

The Carolina Panthers did not have a great performance. They fall to 0-2 after losing to the Chargers 26-3. Bryce Young couldn’t get going on offense. He was 18/26 for only 84 yards and an interception.

Kevin Harvick is likely just having fun not going to a race track every week. FOX aired their final race of the season at Sonoma and ever since then, Harvick has had a much clearer schedule to do things like this.

But he did miss a wild one at The Glen.

Kevin Harvick takes in NFL game during NASCAR Playoffs

Like I said, this was not a normal Next Gen road course race. Watkins Glen had a much more aggressive tire with falloff somewhere around 2.0 seconds or so. That combined with the desperation from playoff drivers to get through the field led to a lot of mistakes.

A wreck on Lap 1 showed us how wild it would be today. Denny Hamlin was involved. He is now six points below the cutline going to Bristol. Ryan Blaney was a DNF but managed to keep a decent cushion for the next round.

Harvick will surely go back and catch all of the action. I bet he will be more than happy to see how Chris Buescher handled Shane van Gisbergen in the final overtime. It was an epic battle to close out the race.

The NASCAR Playoffs were going on, but Kevin Harvick has family time to tend to. Good for him. After putting so much into this sport, he deserves to take in some (albeit one-sided) NFL action.
