Shedeur Sanders on comments by Colorado State players: ‘They asked for it’
Shedeur Sanders heard all the talk from Colorado State and turned it on Colorado’s rivals Saturday night.
In addition to refusing to shake the hand of CSU QB Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi, Sanders said the Rams had it coming. With Deion Sanders at the helm, the Buffaloes have won two straight heated games in this matchup.
Shedeur Sanders admitted there was a little extra motivation going into the game though.
“We don’t look at it as non-conference (vs.) conference,” Sanders said. “We just look at the next game on the schedule. It’s just a little bit of extra motivation when they’re talking crazy. We don’t really put other players down. We’re not trying to go on social media and do that. They just asked for it.”
Sanders finished the game 36-of-49 passing for 310 yards and four touchdowns. In the 28-9 win, Colorado actually trailed 3-0 after the first quarter.
From there, they took over. Sanders had help in the win, thanks to Travis Hunter. Hunter had 13 catches for 100 yards and two touchdowns.
Not only that, Hunter had an interception when he was playing defense.

Head coach Deion Sanders echoed those comments afterwards as well. He said it was “personal.”
“Personal game, heartfelt game, emotional game,” Sanders said. “They kind of make it like that. We just want to play some football. The disrespect was uncalled for throughout the week. A couple of the players took shots at the whole program, and few of our players. So it is what it is.
“So we knew that coming into the game, it was going to be a bit personal. And it was, take one of our coaches, coach Phillips, during warmups, one of the guys ran into him and elbowed him, which is on call for. I just pray that our kids never act in that manner because I know you guys would have a field day if they did.”
