The Longhorns received 10 first-place votes, nine more than last week.

After a 56-7 drubbing of the UTSA Roadrunners on Saturday at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, the Texas Longhorns remained at No. 2 in the US LBM Coaches Poll released on Sunday.

However, the Longhorns did receive 10 first-place votes this week, picking up nine from the second poll of the regular season following the 31-12 win over the Wolverines in Ann Arbor.

It wasn’t the win over UTSA that impacted the additional first-place votes, however — the credit for that likely goes to the 13-12 win by Georgia over unranked Kentucky in Lexington that featured the Bulldogs scoring the game’s lone touchdown early in the fourth quarter that ultimately proved decisive.

With Alabama remaining at No. 4, several other SEC teams made moves with Ole Miss moving up one spot to No. 5, Missouri gaining three spots to No. 6, Tennessee vaulting to No. 7, seven spots higher than last week, and LSU moving up two spots to No. 16. Oklahoma remained at No. 15 following an uninspiring 34-19 win over Tulane that was closer than the score indicated.

The Bulldogs and Sooners remain the only ranked teams left on the schedule for the Longhorns this season.
