Fort Worth Report launches free obituary service to preserve community stories

Fort Worth Report launches free obituary service to preserve community stories

Each life weaves a unique story, contributing to the rich tapestry of our community’s values, experiences and connections.

Historically, newspapers were the trusted source for sharing important life events. Families turned to their local paper to find a space to share the stories of their deceased loved ones’ lives. Obituaries were more than notices; they were tributes that connected us to memories of lives well lived. At the Fort Worth Report, we cherish this communal tradition of celebrating and remembering those we’ve lost.

Today, with great pride and a sense of duty, we introduce our new obituary-sharing service for Tarrant County, In Remembrance. This dedicated webpage and newsletter are a natural extension of our mission to inform and unite our community.

Offered free of charge in collaboration with local funeral homes, In Remembrance will seek to provide a daily, comprehensive listing of obituaries, serving as a central hub where anyone can pay tribute to their loved ones, friends and neighbors.

This initiative has been two years in the making, driven by our desire to serve our community in the most meaningful ways. We’ve invested in the necessary technology and partnered closely with local stakeholders to ensure this service benefits both families and funeral homes.

Unlike other platforms that may charge fees, our commitment is to accessibility and inclusivity — ensuring that every member of our community can honor their loved ones without barriers. This service introduces a new level of accessibility to how we remember those who have shaped our community.

At the Fort Worth Report, we hold a deep respect for the individuals we serve. Our commitment to high-quality, objective journalism matches our dedication to honoring the stories that matter most to our readers. And, if this initiative resonates with you, please consider supporting it with a donation. Your contribution helps us maintain this vital, free resource for all.

I encourage you to explore our obituaries page, sign up for the newsletter and witness the tributes to lives lived in our county.

In a world where news can be fleeting, we hope you’ll join us in creating something enduring — a complete and lasting tribute to the lives that make up our shared history of Tarrant County.
