Georgia DL Xzavier McLeod a game-time decision for Kentucky

Xzavier McLeod might make his Georgia debut on Saturday. The redshirt freshman defensive lineman traveled with the team to Lexington and is a game-time decision according to the Bulldogs’ official availability/injury report.

McLeod, who has been dealing with an abdominal injury, didn’t play in either of the first two games and missed a couple of weeks of preseason camp. He spent last season at South Carolina, playing in four games before deciding to sit out the rest of the season. Georgia targeted him early and he chose Athens as his transfer destination in December.

He was a quick target for Georgia because of the relationship that formed between the two during his recruitment. When McLeod made the decision to commit to South Carolina, UGA was the primary contender and some viewed the Bulldogs as the team to beat until late in the process.

If he’s able to play it would be a big boost to a Georgia defensive line group that has been hit hard by injuries, especially on the interior. Both Jordan Hall and Warren Brinson are out for this game, much like the first two. Brinson played in the opener but came out after three plays as Georgia went on to beat Clemson 34-3. Hall has been out since before the start of preseason camp.

Junior EDGE Mykel Williams has also been on the shelf since the third quarter of the season opener. He went down with an ankle injury, a grade-two sprain according to Kirby Smart, and is also out for this game. Williams gave Georgia 20 plays in the opener with a pair of tackles for loss.

Williams, Hall, and Brinson are all targeting a return for Alabama in two weeks. Both the Bulldogs and Crimson Tide are off next week. Georgia and Kentucky will kick off at 7:44 p.m. ET on Saturday. ABC is set to broadcast the game but with the Texas A&M at Florida game being delayed by lightning, it, the Bulldogs and Wildcats could kick off on a different channel.
