Luke Fickell calls loss to Alabama ‘a good ole fashion ass-whoopin’

Luke Fickell calls loss to Alabama ‘a good ole fashion ass-whoopin’

Alabama went into Wisconsin and left Camp Randall as a big winner. In what was viewed as the first test for the Crimson Tide in the post-Nick Saban era, Kalen DeBoer’s team passed with flying colors. On the other sideline, Luke Fickell was on the receiving end of what he called a “good ole fashion ass-whoopin’.”

“I’ll just give you guys the same message I gave to them,” Fickell said to the media. “If you haven’t had your ass whooped before, you just did. It hurts and it’s not easy but in this game, that’s going to happen. It’s a part of the game, it stinks.

“Doesn’t mean you didn’t worked hard, didn’t mean you didn’t prepare. Means you didn’t get the job done. Whether it’s a one-point loss or a 34-point loss. It’s a good ole fashion ass-whoopin at home, which hurts.”

Wisconsin was able to drive down the field on their opening drive, doing well enough to kick a field goal and take a 3-0 lead. Alabama then had a similar possession but their kick went wide, giving the Badgers some momentum.

From there, Alabama outscored Wisconsin 42-7 in what turned out to be a route on FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff. The only statistic the Badgers were better in was time of possession. But that’s because there were multiple quick-score possessions from Alabama.
