Sherrone Moore ‘really happy’ with Michigan rushing attack in first half vs Arkansas State

Sherrone Moore ‘really happy’ with Michigan rushing attack in first half vs Arkansas State

Michigan has dominated the line of scrimmage offensively to begin Week 3, leading Arkansas State 21-3 at halftime behind a 176-yard performance from his rushing attack.

The Wolverines punched three touchdowns into the end zone via the rushing game. Kalel Mullings led the way with 86 rushing yards and a pair of scores on seven attempts while Donovan Edwards has carried the load with 13 touches for 70 yards and a touchdown of his own.

Leading 7-0 after the first quarter, however, head coach Sherrone Moore feels confident in his team after scoring two touchdowns during before heading into the locker room.

“It was a little rocky first couple plays, but i felt like the line was coming off the ball being physical,” Moore said at halftime. “Running backs are really hitting hard. Perimeter blocking is doing a really outstanding job. Really happy about the running game right now.”

Michigan has received criticism for their play at quarterback in the past, and an interesting showing from Davis Warren in the first half may add to it. He completed 8 of 10 passes for 102 yards in the first half — but both of his incompletions were interceptions.

Despite his interception total, his head coach is still confident in his QB1’s abilities.

“He got his hand hit,” Moore said. “We’ve got do better job in protection. We’ve got guys running free on them, so that’ll help him because he’s doing a really good job when he’s in rhythm and throwing. Really happy with him.”

Michigan may not need to throw another pass in the second half the way its rushing attack is looking. They’ll look to continue its dominance on the front in the second half, which is airing live on the Big Ten Network.
